Best Teams

Individual survivor tiers only get you to the first checkpoint. Route 06 wins happen when roles overlap cleanly—someone stuns Plague, someone heals sprint tax, someone spends coins on utility, and the driver still has a lane during the outpost last stand. This page lists team compositions that match our Tier List rankings and explains why they work in alpha co-op.

Core team principles

Before copying a five-stack, understand what every strong lobby shares:

  1. At least one Plague answer — stun from William, Clayton, or coordinated charge knockbacks. Outrunning Plague forever fails once stamina breaks, especially on Marcus with only 80 stamina.
  2. Sustain for long nightsStella Floral Essence or careful consumable use (Witches Brew, Bloxy Cola from vending machines) so puzzle segments at the traffic stop do not wipe the squad at dawn.
  3. Coin plan for Kimberly — Flashbang costs 10 coins base, plus 5 for each extra Kimberly in the lobby. Budget kills and checkpoint sells so support abilities are ready when Plague appears.
  4. Speed only with coverageShiryo is the fastest survivor but also the lowest HP. Pair him with Kimberly stuns and Stella heals or accept frequent downs.

Runs pay tokens by distance and kills; teams that survive longer earn more for Denis’s shop. Comps that reduce Plague downs keep token income higher across repeated attempts.

This is the most recommended general-purpose lobby in community discussions:

SlotSurvivorRole in comp
1ClaytonBackliner stun plus high stamina for Plague nights
2WilliamFrontliner charge and secondary Plague stun
3StellaFloral Essence healing and stamina recovery
4KimberlyFlashbang crowd control; sibling synergy with William
5Driver flexOften Ethan while learning, or Shiryo when speed-running

Why it works: Clayton and William alternate Plague interaction while Stella recovers the sprint tax. Kimberly flashbangs during traffic-stop puzzles when Plague is not disabled. William and Kimberly are brothers in lore—coordinate charge into flash for safe revives.

Weakness: Low burst DPS if the lobby ignores weapon upgrades at C4RL checkpoints. Assign one player to prioritize melee upgrades (Fire Axe, Frying Pan) for charger zombies.

Speed-run stack (high skill)

For groups that already beat the outpost consistently:

SlotSurvivorRole in comp
1ShiryoFastest pathing; 1250 token investment
2KimberlyFlashbang enables Shiryo to disengage at lowest HP
3StellaKeeps Shiryo alive through mistakes
4ClaytonPlague stun when speed fails
5WilliamFrontliner charge for charger control at pit stops

Shiryo plus Kimberly is the fastest duo in alpha when coins are managed. Do not run this comp without Stella unless your group accepts frequent helicopter abandonments.

Budget three-player comp

Smaller lobbies feel Plague more harshly because aggro cannot be passed as easily. For three friends:

SlotSurvivorRole in comp
1ClaytonPrimary Plague stun and stamina anchor
2StellaHealing between checkpoints
3William or EthanWilliam if tokens allow; Ethan while learning

Skip Marcus here unless someone specifically wants the challenge—his 80 stamina hurts more with fewer bodies to rotate Plague.

Solo and duo notes

Route 06 supports 1–5 players, but mechanics scale generator counts at the military outpost (2 solo, up to 6 with five players). Solo players often stick with Ethan until they unlock Clayton or Stella. Duos benefit from one support plus one stun Frontliner or Backliner—never double Marcus without a plan.

Plague night rotation

After the first checkpoint, Plague hunts at night. A simple callout rotation that works in alpha:

  1. Spotter calls Plague direction when music shifts.
  2. Stunner (Clayton or William) holds ability for grab saves, not opening spam.
  3. Runner (Shiryo or driver) keeps distance until morning or Plague flees.
  4. Support (Kimberly / Stella) spends coins and heals the runner after sprint chains.

In five-stack lobbies, passing Plague between players remains valid—community guides note it is less punishing with more survivors.

Roles you should not double

Avoid these alpha traps:

  • Double Marcus — two 80-stamina Frontliners without Stella is a Plague wipe waiting to happen.
  • Triple support — Stella, Kimberly, and another support without a Frontliner struggles at charger-heavy pit stops.
  • Shiryo without Kimberly — speed means nothing if Plague grabs you at 80 HP with no flash escape.

When to revisit comps

Balance patches and biome additions change travel time and night length. After the v0.2 Swamp update, retest your usual stack on mixed biome seeds. Read Latest Update for patch context and return to the Tier List if survivors move tiers.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the best 5-player team in Route 06?

A balanced alpha comp is Clayton, William, Stella, Kimberly, plus a flex driver—often Ethan while learning or Shiryo for speed. Prioritize Plague stuns and healing over stacking Frontliners.

Does Kimberly stack with multiple Kimberlys in one lobby?

Yes. Each extra Kimberly increases Flashbang coin cost by 5 on top of the 10-coin base. Budget coins from kills and checkpoint sells before night segments.

Is Shiryo worth building a team around?

Only if your group owns Kimberly and preferably Stella. Shiryo is the fastest survivor but lowest HP—glass cannon comps fail without support coverage.
