Biomes & Map Guide

Every Route 06 run rolls a procedurally generated highway with random structure placement, scripted C4RL checkpoints, a one-time Traffic Stop, and a finale military outpost near 4,500–4,600 meters. What changes between seeds is the biome skin — visual readability, landmark silhouettes, and how far Plague chases feel in open versus cluttered terrain. OutLaik added the Swamp biome in v0.2 and continued polish through v0.3; Plains and Snowy remain the classic launch pair.

How map generation works

You do not pick biomes in alpha. The server assigns a seed when the run starts. Your squad always:

  1. Spawns beside the shared car with starter loot potential nearby.
  2. Drives forward through random structures (houses, weather stations, campsites).
  3. Hits C4RL checkpoints on a scripted schedule — roughly every 1,000 meters community timing.
  4. Reaches the Traffic Stop halfway gate (key + puzzle).
  5. Finishes at the military outpost for generator defense and helicopter escape.

Distance still governs Token payouts (~1 per 20 meters). Biome choice does not change the outpost spawn band, but it changes how quickly you read threats at night.

Plains biome

Plains is the default rolling highway — long sight lines, minimal cover, and straightforward structure icons. New players learn here because Regular zombies are visible early and the car has room to U-turn for rescues.

Strengths: easy driving, predictable Charger telegraphs, strong for Shiryo speed comps.

Weaknesses: open night segments expose you to Plague with fewer indoor resets — bring Stella sustain or Alan Sing resistance for long chases.

Snowy biome

Snowy tints the map with winter lighting and tighter visual contrast. Community notes report slightly trickier landmark spotting during dusk transitions when Plague audio matters more than sight.

Strengths: memorable Christmas-era launch vibes; structures still spawn with normal loot tables.

Weaknesses: whiteout moments can hide Sprinters — callouts matter more than in Plains.

Tip: stock Bloxy Cola before Snowy night segments; stamina mistakes are harder to recover when you lose visual tracking.

Swamp biome (v0.2+)

Swamp arrived in the v0.2 Swamp update (see Latest Update for v0.3 follow-ups). Foliage, wet ground tones, and altered POI silhouettes make mid-map reads slower than Plains.

Strengths: variety for repeat farmers; new streamers and wiki readers get fresh landmarks to memorize.

Weaknesses: choke-heavy layouts can trap Boomer explosions near the car; Plague kiting paths are less forgiving.

Team advice: run at least one Plague stun (Clayton or William) and avoid splitting more than two players off-vehicle during Swamp nights.

Distance milestones

Distance (approx.)Event
0–1,000 mFirst structures, first C4RL
~2,000–2,500 mTraffic Stop key hunt
4,500–4,600 mMilitary outpost finale

GPS or in-game distance trackers help decide when to stop looting and burn fuel toward extraction.

Structures across biomes

Biome does not remove POI types — houses, weather stations, and roadside stops still appear, but layout density shifts. Read Structures & Loot for sellables and Traffic Stop keys regardless of skin.

Weather stations and campsites remain high-value stops for ammo and valuables that convert to Coins at C4RL.

Vehicle considerations by biome

Swamp and Snowy seeds punish reckless driving more than Plains because sight lines shrink. Review Vehicle & Driving for trunk logistics, fuel planning, and crash damage (~15 HP to driver on hard impacts in current builds).

Walking to the outpost without the car is possible but impractical — you lose trunk storage and stretch run time enormously.

v0.3 context

v0.3 added survivors Alan and Lucy but did not replace the three-biome rotation. Re-test your Tier List comps on Swamp after major patches — support tools matter more in cluttered seeds.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can I choose the biome in Route 06?

Not in alpha. Biomes roll randomly per seed when the run starts.

How many biomes exist?

Three playable skins: Plains, Snowy, and Swamp. Swamp joined in v0.2.

Does Swamp change outpost distance?

Finale still spawns around 4,500–4,600 meters. Routing difficulty and visibility change more than the meter target.
